Export Promotion for Innovative Products


BITF is implementing a three year project Export Promotion for Innovative Products, supported by the Swiss Government (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs), with the goal to  increase export of high-tech products and services from Serbia, especially in the fields of IT, MedTech and BioTech.

The implementation of the Project shall be performed through three components aimd at:

1. Developing instruments for the promotion of exports of high-tech and innovative products / services from Serbia in the fields of information technology, medical technology and biotechnology

2. Strengthening specific structures, organizations and innovation support networks in Serbia in accordance with the recommended instruments.

3. Implementing recommended network platforms for the promotion of exports in the fields of information technology, medical technology and biotechnology.

The Project is implemented in the period from September 30, 2011. until November 30, 2014.

Conference "Smart products export instead of brain drain" held in the Media Center Belgrade

During the three-year cooperation between BITF and the Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs, more than 100 new jobs created, 25 start-up companies were established, some of which have received prestigious awards for their products and services, both in Serbia and abroad.

Two Serbian companies on the Deloitte 50 fastest growing technology companies in Central Europe - both members of the Incubator!

High Tech Engineering Center is at the high third place on this year's list with five-year revenue growth of 1777%. On the 18th in the Bitgear Wireless Design Services with a five-year revenue growth of 759%. In the last year's CE Technology Fast 50 Bitgear was placed second.

Institutional development of entrepreneurship and innovation in Serbia

Serbian Network of Technology Incubators and Parks - STIPNet, together with Faculty of Economics, Finance and Administration - FEFA and the Center for the Promotion of Science of the Republic of Serbia held a Symposium on Institutional entrepreneurship and innovation in Serbia.

Meetings with Serbian diaspora in London

In order to expand cooperation with the Diaspora, as part of the Project Export Promotion for Innovative Products, implemented with the support of the Swiss Government, BITF team presented the work and results of the Incubator to the members of Serbian City Club, on July 2nd in London. Young and multiply awarding company Strawberry Energy has also presented themselves to the Diaspora.

BITF launched a web platform for the promotion of exports of IT sector, boostIT Serbia, with the aim to support the Serbian IT companies in their efforts to increase their exports and visibility in the global market. IT companies in Serbia that register with boostIT Serbia receive access to the Consultants Database - experts specialized in specific foreign markets. Filling up of the IT Database and Consultants Database is in progress.

A group of young students/entrepreneurs gathered around the initiative Young entrepreneurial Pioneers week, Yepweek, from Western Europe and the United States visited the Business Technology Incubator on August 26, 2013, with the goal to meet the exiting startup scene in this part of the world and promote it in developed counties.

Second FundraiseIT conference and B2B meetings were held in Belgrade on April 18 and 19, 2013, organized by Serbian Business Angels Network SBAN. The event was heavily attended, with over 200 IT companies representatives, of which 45 were from abroad, representing 26 different countries. The guests were famous serial investors and world renowned business angels from Silicon Valley and Western Europe.

TeleSkin is named a Winner of Microsoft Health Users Group 2013 Innovation Awards for SkinScan. TeleSkin's mobile app SkinScan is the leading Windows 8 mobile application for consumers to analyze moles and directly connect with doctors to help screen for melanoma and skin cancer.

Government of Serbia has addopted the Program for support for IT sector in March 2013, which will enable IT companies in the field of tax breaks, grants for start up business, adapted to the needs of the educational system of the sector and provide support to exporters, on the initiative by ICT Net cluster, supported by the Project. Within this program Ministry of finance and economy in cooperation with SIEPA has started an initiative Startap Srbija for support to the entrepreneurial and creative Serbian citizens of Serbia, in their effort to change the image of Serbia with technological innovations.


Ministers of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Mladjan Dinkic, Minister of Finance and Economy and Mr. Zarko Obradovic, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, visited BITF on February 28, 2013. High-tech companies-members of BITF presented themselves with their business models and highlighted the Incubator's support during their development. Guests and attendees also discussed the planned government support for IT sector in the form of tax reductions and other benefits within the program which is in the process of developing, as well as through the establishment of technology parks.

Study Tour to Switzerland within the project Export Promotion for Innovative Products has been conducted from February 18 to 21, 2013, with the goal to  Realizovano je studijsko putovanje u Švajcarsku u okviru projekta Promocija izvoza inovacionih proizvoda od 18.-21. februara 2013, with the goal to become familiar with programs and supporting measures to export for innovative products that are realized in Switzerland, and transfer of good practice to Serbia.

Training on Foreign Trade Operations with Emphasis on Export was held on 7 February 2013.  Interactive discussion has lead to the further explanations and conclusions, and also specific advices for future foreign business.

During December 2012 BITF organized Innovation Days with the goal to promote innovation and export of high-tech products and the Project itself, including organization of conference Export Promotion of Innovative Products, trainings and workshop for the youngest.

The International Conference on Export Promotion for Innovative Products was held on December 17, 2012 and organized by BITF and SIEPA within Innovation Days with the goal to goal to develop tools for  support of the export for innovative products. Working groups (institutions, experts, businessmen) considered analysis of export markets and instruments that are missing in Serbia. The awards to the best start-up companies and entrepreneurs were presented at the Conference.

Trainings Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Business planning were organized within Innovation Days from December 17 to 21, 2012, organized by Incubator, for students - potential entrepreneurs with innovative ideas. Trainigs were interactive with interesting examples from practice.

The workshop Innovations for Children was organized within Innovation Days in cooperation with the Centre for the Promotion of Science. Children were divided into four groups depending on age, with task to make something innovative thtough play and teamwork.

Strawberry Energy received the award for the Best Business Program 2012 within the program Youth Business Serbia. Youth Business Serbia is supporting program for the economic empowerment of youth that aims helping young people to achieve economic progress and start their own business through the development of entrepreneurship and business practices.

Sava Marinkovic, the founder of the company Teleskin, which provides innovative solutions in the diagnosis of melanoma, has been awarded by the recognition Ernst & Young innovative entrepreneur of the year for innovative solutions in manufacturing or services.

The first ICT Net Cluster Conference was held on 22nd November 2012 at Student Cultural Center in Belgrade, supported by the Project. Leading-edge technological solutions and ideas werepresented, with new management approaches and processes that help develop business and introduce dominant ICT trends in the region.

KreativTeh, BITF member company was chosen from among 43 companies out of 125 applicants to present its project and was awarded by international reviewers for the best presentation, along with 9 other companies, at the Balkan Venture Forum (BkVF) held in Belgrade on November 22-23, 2012. This award enabled them to be directly qualified to participate at the European Venture Summit (EVS), Europe's largest gathering of innovative entrepreneurs in the field of ICT, natural sciences and clean technologies, held in Berlin on December 6 -7. 2012.

Serbian Business Angels Network SBAN organized International B2B matchmakin event PartnerIT and conference FundraiseIT with investment evening with topic on raising funds for IT projects on November 15-16, 2012, supported by the Project. During the conference there was direct communication channel between successfull entrepreneurs from the region and competent well-known serial entrepreneurs and investors from Silicon Valley and Europe.

Strawberry energy presented the small portable solar charger for mobile devices Strawberry Mini on 29th of June 2012. By organizing this walk with the route from Slavija to Student square, Strawberry energy, in cooperation with Belgrade University, enabled Belgrade citizens to recharge batteries of their mobile devices with the energy of Sun as well as to play ecological games at touch screen embedded.

Following the great success of last year competition of EUSEW 2011, Strawberry energy was invited to take part in the 2012 edition of the EU Sustainable Energy Week, which took place in Brussels from 18th to 22nd June, presenting the small portable solar charger for mobile devices Strawberry Mini, with support from the Project. In front of the Charlemagne building in Brussels, as an example of sustainable energy in the framework of the Week, "Strawberry energy" exhibited new solar charging station Strawberry Mini, and provided the opportunity for people and media to experience clean, green energy.
